THE WEARY WONDERER

About Mar

Who is Mar Qaroll?

Mar Qaroll is the person behind W5: a worldbuilder, writer, artist, and collector of stories, strange places, complicated people, and probably another glass of sweet tea.

Why “Mar Qaroll”?

This answer is waiting for Mar's official version. The space is here; the biography does not need to be invented by the prototype.

Are you seriously powered by apple juice and sweet tea?

W5's evidence strongly suggests that both are important parts of the creative ecosystem. Further research is ongoing.

STORIES, STORIES, STORIES

Writing & Webseries

Where can I read your fiction?

The Webseries room is the main shelf. It currently points toward The Little Gods, The Molt, and Inverse Sequences, along with bonus and non-canon material.

Why do you call them webseries instead of webnovels?

Because the larger series matter more than forcing every work into a single-novel shape. W5 treats each one as a webseries with its own stories, reading order, extras, and connected material.

What are the bonus stories?

Side stories, alternate possibilities, non-canon pieces, and other material connected to the webseries—the author's own fanfiction of his work, more or less.

DOWN THE RABBIT HOLE

Worldbuilding & Projects

What are your current major projects?

W5 currently has three main project portals: Rejiseä, Drégoi, and Reon. They are the settings connected to the three current webseries.

Where do you post development updates?

The Project News desk is for practical updates: additions, redesigns, releases, major project changes, and other things worth putting on the noticeboard.

Are those the only things you're working on?

Not necessarily. The Projects room has space for future projects, smaller experiments, side endeavors, and whatever else eventually develops enough gravity to need a place of its own.

THE VISUAL SIDE

Art & Images

Where does the artwork on W5 come from?

This needs Mar's final wording. W5 can distinguish original artwork, commissioned work, generated or assisted imagery, photography, and other sources wherever that context is useful.

Can I reuse images from the site?

Not by default. A proper permissions answer belongs here once Mar decides exactly what may be reposted, referenced, edited, or used elsewhere.

PLEASE, DO WEIRD THINGS RESPONSIBLY

Permissions & Fanwork

Can I make fanart or fanfiction?

This is intentionally a placeholder until Mar writes the actual fanwork policy. The eventual answer can be linked directly with faq.html#fanart.

Can I sell something based on your work?

This also needs an explicit policy rather than a guess. Commercial use, commissions, prints, merchandise, and similar cases can be spelled out here separately.

What if my question isn't covered here?

Then the future Contact room is the right destination. The FAQ handles recurring questions; Contact handles the things that actually need Mar.

ABOUT THIS WEBSITE

W5

What is W5?

W5 is Mar Qaroll's hand-built home on the independent web: part personal site, part reading room, part project archive, part notebook, and part ongoing construction site.

Why build the site by hand?

Because the website is not only a container for the work. It is one of the things being made. W5 is allowed to be peculiar, personal, and to change as Mar does.

I found something broken. Where do I report it?

The Contact page will include a route specifically for W5 trouble: broken links, display problems, accessibility issues, and anything else that has fallen off the internet furniture.

STILL WANDERING?

A few doors from here.
